Crime Update 17th to 24th of May 2026 |
||
|
Dear residents, Here is your crime update for the 17th to the 24th of May 2026.
Between the 12th and 17th of May, an unknown offender has stolen two bicycles from BLOSSOMFIELD ROAD and leff in an unknown direction. In the early hours of the 20th of May, unknown offender(s) have broken into an address on HERONFIELD WAY, taken the car keys to a Mercedes and stolen it. The vehicle has been recovered. Between the 20th and the 21st of May, unknown offenders have stolen a locked BMW from SEVEN STAR ROAD by unknown means.
Good news! The team have been heavily involved in enforcing a dispersal order which is still currently active in Solihull Town Centre following reports of disorder. Cracking down on anti-social behaviour and ensuring our local residents can enjoy the sunshine in peace is key priority for the team as we head into the summer months.
Last month the team were given a report of a theft of scooter to investigate. A boy around 5 years old had left his scooter outside a shop to go in to get a drink, when he came out it has been stolen. With no CCTV and no eyewitnesses, we were frustrated that this boy was robbed of his beloved scooter and we had no leads to go on. The team decided that the right thing to do in this very unusual crime was to have a collection from our team and we bought him a new one.
The team were kindly invited some local schools this past week to give inputs to a number of classes and offer the chance for some kids to see what it's like behind the wheel of a police car with the blues and twos on. With the handbrake on of course. Thank you to the schools that invited us and who knows, we may have gained a few recruits in the future.
Crime prevention advice With the weather getting warmer, here are some tips for crime reduction that may help you: Close your car’s windows and sun roof when parked, it may be tempting to leave them open due to the heat, but thieves may steal from vehicles. Consider installing stops or window restrictors to prevent windows from being opened enough to let somebody in. Lock windows when you are out of your property.
